SHELL ECO MARATHON

General

Within Project Zero Fuel, a prototype single seater vehicle will be designed, constructed and will participate in the competition Shell Eco Marathon, in which the winner is not the fastest but the more efficient vehicle. The competition dates back to 1939 when Shell Oil Company employees in the USA made a friendly wager over who could travel furthest on the same amount of fuel. Since then it has expanded to two more continents, includes many energy types and sparks passionate debate around the future of energy and mobility. Nowadays global energy consumption is raised by 52% from 1992 to 2012 and as a result this dramatic increase of hydrocarbons demanding will lead to burn out of stocks in the next 100 years. In conclusion, the competition Shell Eco Marathon is more expedient than ever.
